SUMMARY:South SF: Safe Arrivals
DESCRIPTION:Safe Arrivals is a weekly meeting with a primary focus on recovery from emotional\, social\, sexual\, and work-related anorexia — patterns of withdrawal\, avoidance\, and difficulty giving or receiving nourishment in life. \nMany people who struggle in these ways do not identify with common descriptions of sex or love addiction. Some have little relationship history at all\, yet experience: \n\nChronic isolation or loneliness\nFear of closeness\, exposure\, or vulnerability\nEmotional numbing or detachment\nReliance on fantasy instead of real connection\nDisappearing or withdrawing when stress increases\nAvoidance of people\, places\, and situations that might be triggering\nDifficulty sustaining meaningful work\, self-care\, or daily structure\n\nIn SLAA\, these patterns are understood as part of the same illness — often described as anorexia\, a compulsive restriction of emotional\, relational\, sexual\, or life nourishment. \nThis can include work anorexia\, such as: \n\nAvoidance of necessary work tasks or career development\nActing-in behaviors that block productivity or forward movement\nCycles of procrastination\, paralysis\, or shutdown\nDifficulty tolerating evaluation\, responsibility\, or visibility\nNeglect of health\, finances\, or daily self-maintenance\n\nAvoidance may once have served as protection from overwhelm\, trauma\, or shame\, but over time it can become a life strategy that deepens isolation and reduces freedom. \nSafe Arrivals aims to provide a calm\, structured\, trauma-informed environment where recovery can begin at a manageable pace. The emphasis is on stability\, consistency\, and rebuilding capacity for connection\, responsibility\, and participation in life. \nYou do not need to use any specific label to attend. If patterns of withdrawal or restriction are causing suffering\, you are welcome. \nWest Bay Alano Club\n216 Mosswood Way\nSouth San Francisco \nFree Parking; 10 minute drive from SFO Rental Car center; Samtrans ECR bus; 25 minute walk to BART; 30 minute walk to Caltrans.
